Elegant balm texture with genuinely advanced barrier lipids, but the fragrant essential oils and contact exfoliants make this a fussy, not-universally-gentle first cleanse. Efficacy-wise it earns credit for a robust oil/ester base that will dissolve sunscreen and makeup well, plus a sophisticated mix of multiple ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine in the rinse-off phase that help offset potential dryness and support the barrier even in short contact, and a trio of exfoliants (lipo-hydroxy acid, PHA and protease) that can slightly smooth skin but remain secondary in a cleanser context. However, those acids are likely at low concentrations and constrained by rinse-off time, and the reliance on bergamot and sage oils with their sensitizing fragrance components (limonene, linalool) means this is not a truly low-risk, minimalist balm for sensitive or compromised skin.
